Kaiken mitta-videokoosteet ovat syntyneet Lintupäiväkirja-teoksen toteutuksen myötä heränneistä ajatuksista. Tärkeimmäksi näistä kysymyksistä nousi se, millä perustein arvotamme eläimiä? Pohdinta eläimestä on keskittynyt määrittelemään, miten ihminen eroaa eläimestä? Tämä tiivistyy itsetuntemuksen kysymykseen. Päädyin rakentamaan kaksi koeasetelmaa villieläimille urbaaniin ympäristöön. Asensin perinteisen eläinten itsetuntemusta tutkivasta peilikokeesta versioni taiteen kontekstiin ja toin taiteen muotokuvan eläintutkimuksen välineeksi. Voisimmeko oppia vanhasta peilikokeesta jotain uutta katsoen sitä taiteen kautta tai voivatko muotokuvat kertoa jotain uutta eläinten itsetuntemuksesta?

The video compilations of Measure of Everything are the result of thoughts that emerged during the production of the Bird Diary. The most important of these questions was: what criteria do we use to value animals? Evaluation of the animal has focused on defining how humans differ from animals. This comes down to the question of self-awareness. I ended up building two experimental setups for wild animals in an urban environment. I placed my version of the traditional animal self-awareness mirror test (MSR) in the context of art and brought the portrait of art as a tool for animal research. Could we learn something new from the old mirror test by looking at it through art, or can portraits tell us something new about animal self-awareness?
